Dr. Chyz earned his D.D.S. degree in 1983 from the University of Michigan and established a clinical practice in Seattle, Washington. This spring, after 41 years, Dr. Chyz decided to transition from his downtown Seattle private practice to spend more time at University of Washington, doing research related to optimizing structural restorative dental techniques in Dr. Alireza Sadr’s B4T research lab. Dr. Chyz has been involved in various study clubs over the years. He gained valuable insight into global dental products when working with 3M-ESPE on Filtek Supreme (Z350).
Most importantly, Grant first laminated Ribbond to internal tooth structure, using a technique that has recently been named the “Dr. Chyz Technique” by Ribbond, in 1999 – giving him a unique, long-term perspective on the value of fiber lamination to augment direct restorations. He is a passionate advocate for structurally sound, tooth-preserving dentistry.
